Help me make the most of my freezer!

I have a little space that I can use for freezing small things (don't have enough to bulk cook whole meals) - I thought I'd use it for freezing those little things that you only need a small amount of, that might go off if you left it in the fridge etc - stuff to enhance flavour. Therefore freezing bits and pieces will save money.

So far I've tried:

Peeled chunks of ginger - it is so much easier to grate when frozen! (I learn that on MN, of course :o)

'Flavour packs' for stir fries - I think I did garlic, spring onion, ginger and chilli in a little oil.

Pesto from when we've made a load.

Flavoured butters - so far I've done parsley and garlic. Set it in the fridge in a cylinder, then slice and freeze.

So now I'm wondering what else I could do? I sometimes use lemons and limes, could I cut into wedges and freeze? What about herbs? Crushed garlic?

Any ideas would be most welcomed! :)

I freeze lemons and limes for drinks. Slice them up, freeze flat on something like a baking tray then tip the lot into a bag/box. Great for using up any lemons/limes that are loitering in the fruit bowl and perfect for putting straight into cold drinks. I suppose you could do the same with squeezable wedges but I haven't tried.

Thought of another.

When I make stock, I boil it right down to really concentrate it, then freeze in an ice cube tray and pop the frozen cubes in a bag. Means there's loads of flavour in just one tiny cube and it doesn't take up much space. Maybe everyone does this but I used to freeze in bigger portions and it just took too much space.

I found having a list of everything in the freezer really helped save money and plan meals,.

Crushed garlic is fab, I get the ready frozen stuff in cubes. Just make sure you put it into a sealed freezer bag once open otherwise everything will have a garlicky smell! Having every single packet or bag in the freezer smelling of garlic can be too much!
