Tomorrow I am doing something with chicken in the slow cooker. I want to add some dried red lentils, but I don't know what to do. Please may I have some help.

How much fluid is included in your recipe? It's difficult to go horribly wrong with red lentils, but you will need liquid over and above that produced by the chicken.

Is it a whole chicken or pieces? I would probably start with some browned onions, red pepper and bacon pieces at the base, then add only 3 or 4oz red lentils on top, then some passata mixed with a little water (1/2 pint liquid in total) and then pop the browned chicken pieces or whole chicken on top. Season with pepper and herbs only. Salt tends to make pulses a little tough so only add it at the end.
