Easy ones for the family- not fancy for friends and entertaining. Would love savoury and sweet tips if you are willing....

Ooh I love a good barbie

Corn on the cob
Halloumi & veg kebabs
Good meat bits (lamb, chicken, pork etc) from the butcher marinaded in something saucy (there's a lovely Delia apricot barbecue sauce recipe) or tuna steaks (again marinaded in something like lime and chilli)
Accompanied by green salad and potato salad - or jacket potatoes done in the coals.

I'm hungry now.

I had forgotten all about corn on the cob! And, LOVE the sound of halloumi and veg kebabs...

My favourite barbecue things are:

this sauce as either a marinade for ribs or as a relish

A salsa salad with chillies and coriander

last year on holiday i mixed the powder from a maggi shake bag thing with olive oil till i had a paste. i marinaded chicken chunks in this and stuck it on skewers with peppers and onion. lovely.

also lovely is making fish parcels- put fillet of fish on tin foil, add some butter, herbs and chopped tomatoes, close the parcel up and let it cook through. delicious.

Brownies and watermelon are lays nice after a BBQ...or blueberry peach crumble/crisp with a scoop of best vanilla ice cream.

WaitingForMe · 18/05/2014 22:31

Cut a slit in bananas and pour a little dark rum in then put them on the last of the BBQ heat. Serve with vanilla ice cream and if you can be arsed, a rum caramel sauce.

I consider this a family recipe. The rum burns off so is ok for kids I think Blush

always not lays.

Can also do the bananas trick with chocolate (wrap in foil)

No barbecue here would be complete without Jamie Oliver's Botham Burgers - we make them much smaller though! I make the salsa he suggests to serve them with too.

Chicken thighs/drumsticks marinated in olive oil, lemon juice, thyme and garlic. Also works for lamb chops.

Corn on the cob.
