Did our big nosh yesterday - roast beef & all the trimmings followed by Jamie Oliver chocolate cake (so delish i am just baking another right now - it's in the oven)Today will be leftover beef in a cook-in sauce type thing with rice. Can't beat a roast IMO

mrsjingles · 28/08/2006 13:37

MrsJingles it's dead easy, my 3 year old helped make it. It's the one called Party Cake in the Return of the Naked Chef. If you don't have it, any idea how i can pass it on to you? I'm new here!

Thomcat · 28/08/2006 15:33

Well don't know about specail but going to eat well tonight:

Roast lamb with garlic & rosemary
roast potatoes
roast parsnips
cabbage & leeks
cauliflower cheese
purple carrots (never seen them before and am intruiged)
peas
yorkshire puddings
possibly gravy, haven't decided

apple crumble and vanilla custard

Blossomhill · 28/08/2006 15:35

thomcat ~ how can you have a roast without gravy?

Went to Nandos with dh and dd for lunch/early dinner. Very nice. Probably have some toast later.

Thomcat · 28/08/2006 15:37

Cosw I don't really like gravy when I'm having cauliflower cheese. The sauce substitues the gravy for me.
I might have it there on the side if I need it.

I went to Ikea with the kidsa nd fed them Ikea meatballs and fries, so I guess thats a resounding 'NO' to a special dinner Mind you, it isn't bank holiday here and if my kids are happy to trail round Ikea for a couple of hours, the least I can do is feed them their fave junk food

MarsLady · 28/08/2006 16:56

Yes.... but only because it's DD2's 8th birthday today.

Special.... because she requested it and I baked a chocolate cake!

cupcakes · 28/08/2006 17:01

Nope, we never have anything special on Bank Holidays. We had hotdogs (with proper sausages, not those gag-worthy tinned ones) for lunch. We'll be having a bit of a pick and mix meal tonight. Nothing special at all.

octavia · 28/08/2006 17:35

we had purple carrots on saturday thomcat
Ds refused to eat them as he said they looked liked slugs!
did you get them in Sainsburys

nutcracker · 28/08/2006 17:40

We are having indian take away

Mercy · 28/08/2006 17:47

Oxocube, we went to Ikea today too! And also ate there for the first time ever (apart from hotdogs that is).

So just tea tonight. Not that I bother doing anything special on a BH anyway.

Thomcat · 28/08/2006 18:04

Octavia - yes the taste the difference range.
They look mad. had stained hands after peeling them.
Not eaten them yet.
Were they nice, any different?
My MIL had purple potatoes once and said they were amazing.

octavia · 28/08/2006 20:22

agree about stained hands,it does come off eventually !
tbh they didn't really taste any different, have tried the potatoes as well they really are lovely. They are usually on offer as well come to think of it

Smurfgirl · 28/08/2006 20:26
