Mostly for fresh pitta and nuts and spices. But what else should I be looking out for? I'm having folks for mezze sharing type dinner on Saturday, courtesy of an Ottolenghi (LOVE Yotam) cookbook. What nibbly things in particular should I look out for?

fat squashy medjool dates in a box. Soft, syruppy pastries, ripe olives in various marinades. Halva (sesame cake, perhaps an acquired taste). haloumi cheese. my mouth is watering. All sorts of ingredients that are £££ or unavailable anywhere else: rose water, pomegranate syrup, orange blossom water.
