If you had to make a cake a week for 6 weeks what would you bake?

I'm making a cake for the match teas at my tennis club. I want to do a different cake every week.

This week I did Flora's famous courgette cake. Next week I think I'm going to do Nigella's Guinness cake, unless someone can recommend something else I fancy.

What would you bake?

coffee and walnut cake, I made this one last week and it was fab.

How about a light fruit cake - for example Dundee cake, or Ginger Cake, Lemon Drizzle or Lemon Victoria sandwiched with mixture of lemon curd and cream cheese. Marble Cake or Chequerboard Cake -easy but impressive! I would use the opportunity to try out stuff the family wouldn't fancy - also if you bake for school bake sales, they only want cupcakes covered in sweets and icing - you can be a bit more sophisticated with an appreciative adult audience.

Nigella strawberry cake is tasty. Gingerbread cake or a Parkin is old style but tasty.

How could I forget Carrot Cake? Can you borrow the Mary Berry Ultimate Cake book from library as the traybake section is great for making large quantities? Loads of variations.

My kids are allergic to eggs so when I'm baking for them I stick to one or two failsafe recipes, so I'm looking forward to making some proper cakes.

Lorraine Pascale chocolate cake is fantastic. I think it's called something like 'I can't believe it's homemade'.

Favourites here are lemon drizzle,banana and walnut(Paul hollwood recipe but use at least half the sugar specified. It doesn't need that much) and Nigellas chocolate clementine cake.

when i used to do tennis match teas i would make carrot cake muffins, as so much quicker to cook, i used one of those recipe cards from waitros, they had nice cream cheese icing.
sounds like you are being a bit more diligent than i ever was about baking proper cake, have you ever tried raspberry blueberry and lime <a class="break-all" href="//drizzlewww.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1338/raspberry-and-blueberry-lime-drizzle-cake" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">cake? its light and delicious and reasonably easy to make.

Smitten kitchen's sweet potato cake with marshmallow frosting is really easy to make and tastes lovely. I made it for my church homegroup last night and it went down a storm.

I need a finale cake for the last home match, something that tastes good and looks spectacular too. Any other ideas?

honestly, the sweet potato cake is beautiful.

I'd make coffee and walnut every week. Never tire of it.
