Marks and Spencer's baby food! Long life in chilled??

Hi Guys,

So I went into Marks and Spencer's in Manchester City Centre today and saw that they had launched a baby food range in chilled which I thought was great because it can be quite difficult to find fresh, healthy food for the LO's but I was rather disappointed when I got home as I looked at the dates and they are a year away???? So they are long life products being presented in the fridges as chilled and fresh?

How do you guys feel about this?

I just feel slightly deceived by M&S am I blowing this out of proportion

Thanks,

P

Is it vac-packed?

Yeah! I don't understand why they would put it in the fridge?

Vac-packing usually means that they've been able to remove a lot of the preservatives that appear in 'fresh' equivalents because the contents are pasteurised. Does it say 'refrigerate' on the packet itself?

It's heat treated and retorted food. It should be on the ambient shelf but they are attempting to sell it as a fresh, chilled product.
