Can I cook yorkshire puddings in the oven at the same time as the roast potatoes?

Just that really! I am about to.attempt my first proper roast dinner and am a bit confused as to how you get everything cooked together at the same time.

If I put my potatoes in on gas mark 7 for 40ish minutes can I put the yorkshire puddings in after 20 mins so they are ready at the same time?

I am well aware that I should know this stuff at my age but I don't Smile

Yes, of course you can.

Time the meat for 20 mins before you want to serve it. parboil the spuds ~8 mins, drain, toss to roughen up, into the fat and put those in the oven for about an hour (turning a few times).

20 mins before serving, take the meat out, wrap in foil and put it to 'rest' - this makes room for the yorkies, and you've got plenty of time to cook carrots/green veg and make the gravy from the pan juices.

Yes, exactly as Errol says above. Yorkshires don't take very long and taking the meat out to rest frees up room and means you can whack the oven up a bit to get the potatoes lovely and crispy and your yorkshires golden brown.

Yum!
