Butter instead of sunflower oil in cake recipe?

Is that ok? I've run out of sunflower oil. How much butter should I use to substitute for 100 ml / 4 fl oz oil?

Mars? Suzy? Any other bakers of cakes out there?

What cake are you making? Is it carrot by any chance? It's okay to use butter instead of sunflower oil but you can definitely taste the difference. It's richer and "heavier" if you use butter. I would melt 100g of butter or the same amount as the flour.

Thanks so much, I am afraid I gave up and made cookies instead (discovered I also had no baking powder)

must remember to buy food one of these days
