With all this talk of roasts, how do you make bread sauce?

Have decided to treat dh to a roast this evening and want to make bread sauce, but don't know how. TIA

Heat some milk in a pan, in which you have put a peeled onion studded with cloves, a bay leaf, some salt and some pepper.
When it has come to the boil turn the heat right down and add white breadcrumbs gradually stirring all the time. When it is the right thickness remove the onion and bayleaf. Stir in a big knob of butter and serve.

I cheat with mine & simply cut bread into cm cubes - much less hassle & makes for a more textured sauce. If I dont have much bread left I also leave the crusts on - I actually prefer some ncie chewey bits!

(I confess to simply breaking the bread into bits... life too short to make crumbs!)
