Best recipe for a child's birthday cake

I am planning on making a 10'' cake with a topper on for my son's birthday. What is the best recipe to use? Victoria sponge?

Mine prefer chocolate sponge. I just do a Victoria sponge recipe but change 1/4 of the flour for cocoa powder.
