When people say "cream cheese", what exactly do they mean?

Philly is an ok'ish substitute though .. but its kind of like processed cheese slices instead of a big lump of farmhouse cheddar IYSWIM

I think that real cream cheese is different from Philly - much richer and sweeter - i didn't even think about it for years due to cholesterol and calories but it's still out there - i used to eat shedloads when i was on the Atkins diet, but no more. Absolutely the food of the gods. You still get it in small tubs above the milk, or somewhere between the cream and the cheese...
