I have just bought a toastie maker (used to love them when I was a kid!) but am sorely lacking in inspiration.....

I have a 12 year old Ds who swears by strong cheddar and pizza topping sauce for an "instant pizza" effect. Ham, salami, olives etc optional (The foodie in my dies a little death...)

We make do with toastabags ATM but I have a feeling that with a 10 year old and a 12 year old, both coming home ravenous after lots of sport, the Toasted Sandwich Years are just about to begin.

Mincemeat. Mmmmm.....

Spottybra · 17/01/2014 18:00

Bacon and Brie.

HappyJustToBe · 17/01/2014 18:02

Cheese, salad cream and pickled onions. Amazing.

ravenAK · 17/01/2014 18:03

Last night's curry. For breakfast.

My favourite is egg, just by itself . My DH does it so the yolk is in one half and the white is in the other...love it

Used to like cheese and Branson pickle as well

IAmNotDarling · 17/01/2014 18:05

Coronation chicken, smoked bacon, mango chutney with cheese. Amazing.

Left over chilli and cheese.

Chicken and pesto with Parma ham.

coffeeinbed · 17/01/2014 18:08

leftover mash with grated cheddar and some very finely sliced leek.

Foxsticks · 17/01/2014 18:09

Cheddar and onion marmalade or cheddar, ham and wholegrain mustard.

Loving the sound of peanut butter and banana and may have to try that!

Quodlibet · 17/01/2014 18:10

Cheese and artichoke hearts = posh toasty

MikeWazowski · 17/01/2014 18:16

My favourite, Stilton and mushroom, sometimes with beef

monniemae · 17/01/2014 18:25

Ineedcheese I use to work near borough mkt and they sold it in a spanish shop but I'd hope there are other sources... Can't remember what's called but I've had it on pizza too, YUM

paulapantsdown · 17/01/2014 18:29

The traditional Irish pub toastie - cheese, ham, tomato and onion. Guiness on the side. Lunch of the God's that.

Ineedcheese · 18/01/2014 01:01

Gah, I used to work near borough market! Not any more, bloody ds!

Chicken mayo and banana. Yes, I know it sounds mad. I was skeptical the first time I tried it. But I was easily converted on tasting it.

nippysweetie82 · 18/01/2014 01:28

I put dahl or curried chickpeas in mine.

jennimoo · 18/01/2014 07:27

Leftover roast pork and sweet chilli sauce is one of my favourites.

And I have a soft spot for pizza toasties (cheese, tomato sauce / purée and whatever else you have) as I wooed by husband to be with these at university :)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/01/2014 07:38

Cheddar cheese and leek - very thin slices of raw leek, lovely mild oniony taste.

Blue cheese and Dairylea (or similar) - blue too strong on its own, but they combine beautifully.

Waitrose do a fabulous caramelised onion chutney.

FumblesandFrolics · 18/01/2014 07:47

Pesto, mozzarella, crumbled goats cheese and spinach.

Sooooo yum!

BNmum · 18/01/2014 07:49

Just read this and now I'm starving. I also love: cheese & red onion/spring onion and cheese and beans. Ham, stilton and cranberry is also nice.
I'm off to find the sandwich maker now as I want one for brekkie...ENJOY!

BNmum · 18/01/2014 07:52

I agree with rufus, cheese and branston pickle is lovely too - just make sure you let it cool, ouch!

AmandinePoulain · 18/01/2014 07:53

I can't believe no one has suggested cheese and pineapple Grin

Cheese and beans is the best though (especially if the cheese in question is Mexicana, yum!)
