I don't seem to have the right sort of flour in (although it might be knocking about in a currently unpacked box in the garage somewhere but looking is too much like hard work)...any ideas if plain or self raising would maybe work? Or shall I just leave them for today?

thinly slice onions, use a mandolin if you have one, otherwise sharp knife, put them in a bowl. Combine with salt pepper, madras curry powder and Gram flour (chickpea flour) and table spoons of cold water until the thing resembles a batter. Leave to rest, then deep fry. both sainsbury's and tesco have gram flour - if not try your local asian supermarket. Other additions include mustard seeds, fresh coriander, chiili or paprika.

They sound lovely! I'm going to give them a go this weeks. Are samosas gram flour too?

samosas can be made with pre-made filou pastry, they aren't gram flour.

That's a shame as I'm gluten free. Really miss stuff like that.
