Do I leave the greaseproof paper on top?!

Morning! Quick question about a hotpot recipe for slow cooker that I'm following.

It says to put a buttered piece of greaseproof paper on top of the sliced potatoes to push them down into the gravy... So, do I leave it there while it's cooking or just discard it once I've done the pushing down bit? Anyone know?

Leave it

I'm so glad you've said that, as I don't want to take the lid off now it's started cooking. I shall feel more relaxed today now!

Looking forward to my first ever slow-cooked meal tonight...
