Starter to go with prawn curry any ideas?

Having people over on Friday, want to do a Jamie prawn curry, because it's always a big hit and I've never cooked it for this particular bunch (we have friends roudn quite a lot).

Any ideas for what might work as a starter? I am suddenly stumped and want to do a Sainsburys order. Thanks!

Chicken noodle soup, Thai chicken cakes, or some kind of pork lettuce cups....yum!

Thanks, yes, think Thai is the way to go - any suggestions for easy recipes welcome.

Thai fish cakes if you don't mind double-fish? I use frozen fish for them so they work out quite cheap.

From memory:
Blitz until very finely chopped: garlic, lemongrass, ginger, chilli, coriander (reserve some leaves but blitz stalks and leaves too), salt, fish sauce. Or I guess you could use a thai paste?

Add lime juice and the defrosted fish (I find this is usually a bit wet so defrost well and squeeze out any water) and pulse this, adding the reserved leaves, until well mixed and blitzed, although it's good if you keep a few bigger chunks of fish.

Scrape that out into a bowl and let it sit in the fridge for an hour, then form into small flat fishcakes and fry.

Looking at tk's post I suspect you could do very much the same thing with chicken mince to make chicken cakes too...

OOh, that sounds good, prob is will need to do a practice run before Friday, so will have to find time to shop, cook, eat, decide. But will try and poss with chicken as a change.

Also, going to try a miso aubergine recipe I found tonight, though dh doesn't think aubergine counts as food Hmm

Did the chicken cakes and they were a-may-zing, everyone said so. Dcs loved left overs too. Thanks so much, they'll be a regular now.
