really simple meals that can be cooked in stages throughout the day and served to DD at 5pm then grown ups at 8pm!

Please help! I have a 5 week old DD and a 3yr old DD and I am struggling with feeding everyone decent meals without ending up with a mound of washing up at the end of the day. As with all newborns, I'm sure, DD2's sleep is a little erratic so I have no idea whether she will sleep or not throughout the day and if she does I don't know when this will happen. Dh, me and DD1 eat together whenever possible (as I can't be doing with preparing more meals than are truly necessary) but 3 nights of the week DH is home too late so I need to feed DD1 at 5pm and the DH and I at 8pm.

I was thinking that if I did something like pasta bake, i could cook the sauce throughout the day and DD could eat the pasta and sauce at 5pm, then I could pour the grown up portions into a dish and turn it into a pasta bake at 8pm (DD1 doesn't like melted cheese anyone so she wouldn't mind not having it baked.).

Does anyone have any other ideas? DD1 doesn't like spicy food, melted cheese or sweet potato but apart from that we all eat everything.

I've already got Bolognese, chilli and veggi curry in the freezer but need to ration myself to one frozen meal a week or they will run out too quickly!

Also dd will be fine with a few meals of fishfingers
