4kg ham takes how long to cook do you reckon?

all the recipes I've found are alarmingly vague.

HFW says 4.5 hours for a 4-9kg ham - not helpful!

Nigella says 2.5 hours then bake for 40 mins.

it's been simmering for two hours. what do you think?

I've only ever boiled it to serve with parsley sauce but unlike many joints it seems that longer isn't better. Sorry, prob too late now.

30 mins per 500g.... 4 hour simmer. 4kgs is pretty chunky.

Boiling for 30 mins plus 30mins per 500g for a ham at room temp.
If it's not at room temp then put it in cold water and bring to boil and then pour away the water and start cooking it in whatever liquid you are using for the full time.
What are you cooking it in? nosey and greedy here

Just cooked one. 30mins per 500g and then an extra 30mins.

if you have a meat thermometer then I think around 68 degrees in the middle is what you need to aim for? Although I then put mine in the oven to glaze and brown after which might make it different?. Based on felicity cloake's perfect ham recipe from the Guardian. mmm ham...
