Help !Too much pepper in shepherds pie mash (shakes fist at Jamie Oliver)

In an attempt,at being a ponce this Christmas I stupidly bought a different brand of pepper .. Ok I admit I was seduced by the floppy tongue of the Essex geezer and his rich and robust tells herby black pepper.

I have just tasted my shepherds pie .. My ds's favoritest ever that I'd made as a special treat

The mash is like the rocket fuel

I can just about eat it (and I'm a chicken vindaloo kinda gal) but my PFB will not cope.

I've googled (yy I've read that thread ) and seen adding liquid helps (volatile compound v impressive) but it's MASH

Any ideas (pretty please he's due back from sports club in about 20 mins)

Erm, scrape the mash off and make more? All I can suggest, sorry!

Cheese works well to tone down curry fire, so might help? You'd need to try on a mouthful first so you aren't wasting more food.

Cheesy bread crumbs

Ds pronounced it the best dinner ever

Very strong cheddar cheese crumbled on and blasted in the oven and copious amounts of emergency instant gravy poured over the top.
