Turkey crown in slow cooker for Xmas? Desperate times!

Hoping you can help! My oven has given up an dogs going to cost me £400 to have it repaired, which I just can't afford right now.

I've been using my slow cooker to death lately and have cooked a whole chicken, which was gorgeous, and I wondered if I could do the same with a turkey crown? Xmas day is going to be a bit awkward otherwise as it's the only meat everyone wants! gits

If it fits in the slow cooker I don't see why not.

I have my turkey cooked for Christmas and frozen it, as breast meat can dry out too much in slow cooker I used a roasting bag, added some seasoning and sealed (with the wee cable tie thing that comes with it. I also raised it off the bottom of the slow cooker using ramekin dishes so it didn't burn. There was loads of juice in the bag when cooked.

You could try a Christmas dinner casserole with turkey steaks, sausages and bacon all chucked in together. I have made a similar thing in the oven before now (admittedly not for Christmas dinner, but for a Christmas gathering) and it was very good. I seem to remember I put in some chestnuts (those Merchant Gourmet vacuum packed ones) and some carrots. Add some gravy and some cranberry sauce and there you have it - almost a one-pot Christmas dinner. You could add sprouts, too - which just leaves potatoes/parsnips really. You could add parsnips to the casserole, actually.

Oh, and it doesn't help with stuffing. Unless you tried something like adding stuffing balls sat on top of the casserole like dumpling? Not sure how long you'd have to do them for to check they were cooked though.

Whoa don't know why it changed it's to dogs in my op! Bloody iphone!

Thank you - will so a test run with the roasting bag and that Xmas casserole sounds fab - will do that this Sunday instead of slow cooked chicken!
