My cooker is on the blink, oven gets very hot! So looking for stunning but easy ideas, so far will cook a piece of gammon, salads etc, what would be different but nice?

Can you still use the oven? What were you going to cook the gammon in?

winter slaw.

roasted new potato salad.

If you have a roasted ham, then what kind of sauce are you doing for it? I would recommend a mayonnaise with chopped cornicon, capers, mustard etc. Use the braising juice to boil down to a sticky sauce. Good crisp salads. Maybe potato dauhphinose.

I dont think you need more. Except maybe a decent spicly parsnip soup to start!

I can still use the oven but have to put a thermometer in to keep checking it! If a recipe needs say gas mark 6 then I now have to set it at 1!! I have 2 slow cookers I can use to cook the ham, then roast it off. I need to do other things as the age range is from 5-75!!

How about a posh casserole like beef bourginion. You could slow cook that. Or poach a salmon on the hob. Both can be done in advance.
