What can I do with a bag of cooking apples!

Very ripe cooking apples. MIL gave them to me a (couple of) weeks ago and is coming for tea tomorrow. She's left a message today asking if I'd like some more!

Obviously I'll decline her lovely offer (she really is lovely) but feeling like I really should do something with the apples I already have!!

Kids too old for apple purée, tried to make an apple sponge, totally rejected by kids. Any other suggestions?? Quick and easy would've perfect (don't want much do I? Wink)

Apple crumble. Quickest and easiest and yummiest pudding of them all.

crumble or pie - can use ready-made pastry for the latter. I'd put a bit of cinnamon in. Custard. Lovely.

Definitely crumble. If you've got loads to use up, stew them and freeze them. I'm partial to a bit of stewed apple on my porridge.

well the obvious answer of course is, cook them.

but i gather you want something a little more detailed than that?

you know what? my kids LOVE plain old stewed apple for pudding. really. either by itself or with ice cream/custard.

you could peel and chop some and freeze it for later though if you don't want/can't use it all up straight away.
although they do keep for ages and ages if you store them somewhere cool.

Apple pancakes or apple snow...

Fantastic. Apple crumble is perfect and I'll stew the rest for the freezer. Thank you!! Shock

I was given 27 kilos of the buggers last week. Apple jelly was a good way to use them up! And giving 10 kilos to a friend who has a chutney making business. Apple chutney is delicious.

A bit of lemon zest grated into your crumble mix is really tasty

Cook them as you would for an apple pie. Freeze in small containers (my mum uses plastic cups as that's a good portion size for her and df). Freeze, then put in plastic sandwich bags. Bring out as necessary!
