Xmas cake - does the fruit need to be swimming in booze??

Doing a nigella recipe & it says 120ml of booze to soak the fruit but this isn't very much!

Surely only some of the fruit is going to get boozed up with so little??

First time making one of these and it's not got off to a good start!: had to make an emergency online purchase for a deep sided cake tin this morning!!

No not swimming, just steeped. You'll be amazed how far that little bit of booze goes.
