I've made a cake for Saturday - should I leave it in the fridge?

I've made a chocolate cake for DS's birthday party on Saturday and have put it in the fridge to let the butter icing firm up. Should I leave it in the fridge until Saturday or in an airtight container out on the side?

Sorry am clueless!!

Out all day tomorrow so didn't want to risk rushing it then.

If you put it in the fridge, use the air tight container to prevent it drying out then get it out of the fridge on Saturday morning to come up to room temperature so the taste is better.
