Quarter an onion, get a clove of garlic and chop finely, get large glass of wine and some rosemary and thyme and chuck all in the slow cooker in low...

For 8 hours :)

I'm making brisket tomorrow for the first time!

I'm doing Gordon Ramseys barbecue slow roast brisket.

Make a dry rub with a little chilli, garlic, cumin and celery powder and rub in brisket and sear then chuck in cooker on top of onions and bag leaf, add beef stock and wine and cook for 4 hours.

Hope yours goes well!

We just bung in on low for hours and hours Grin

I'm not doing mine in a slow cooker btw (don't have one yet)

Or, even easier, one onion, quartered, a couple of carrots peeled and cut into large chunks, brisket on top. No need to add anything else, cook on low for 6-10 hours, thicken juices with Bisto and yum!

Might try the wine/herbs next time, though. Grin

Oh and I often put the spuds in to part cook and fish them out later to roast off at the end

Alternative then go for a pot roast

onion on the bottom then brisket
around the meat fill the space with potatoes (I like whole new potatoes) sliced carrots, swede, parsnip - basically any root veg then add some boiling water with or without herbs/stock cube/wine/mustard
