Nigella's Chocolate Guiness Cake/Red Velvet Cake Question

Nigella's is the best choc cake I've ever made, super moist and not too sweet. If I add red food colouring paste to the mix will it change colour like a red velvet cake mix? If looked at the ingredients and both use cocoa powder rather than actual chocolate but of course nigella's has guiness in it which is black ... will this be too strong a colour to let the red come through?

Anyone else tried something similar or suggest a really moist choc cake that would work well with red food colouring (it's for halloween)

TIA

Doubt it

You have to use a lot of re food colouring for red velvet which has a unique and delicate chocolate flavour in my opinion which is completely different from the guiness cake

Dr Oetker red food colouring, almost the whole bottle on vanilla coloured sponge

I think the guiness cake could be used though ... Just colour the cream on top red like dripping blood oozing over the black tar soil and get some chocolate bats in the top

Yes that's an idea. Though having finally caught up with this week's bake off last night I'm feeling inspired to construct a gothic tower made out of red velvet cake sitting on a chocolate cake cemetery.
