can I use out of date dried yeast?

I am making pizza dough and have discovered that my dried yeast is a year out of date. Can I use it? Will it kill me or just not work?

It probably won't work. You can try a little in warm water with a little sugar, and see if it froths.

there is some froth - it's in lukewarm water - haven't added honey yet which is what I am meant to do. Not sure how much it is meant to froth??
