salmon, new pots and salad
fish pie and peas
spag bol
smoken salmon pasta in a fromage frais/lemon/dill sauce
pizza for Friday night
BBQ chicken legs, couscous and salad
more BBQ stuff in case the weather picks up
quiche, new pots and salad
standby of tomato and mascarpone sauce for with pasta

Might sound a bit daft but I also base meal plans around the weather, and also to some extent what's in season. So for example, summer type meals may include

Omelette, chips and salad

Barbecue (weekends only)

Cajun or sim. chicken salad & decent bread

Mercy · 22/06/2006 19:41

And loads of fruit (especially cherries atm) to follow. I find it's only in summer I get to eat at least 5 portions of fruit & veg every day!

I have a general plan but am swayed by meat/fish on special offer

sausages (chips, carrots, cauliflower)
pizza
fish pie (brocolli and cauliflower)
chilli con carne (tomatoes, kidney beans, red peppers)
pork chops (pots, carrots, mange tout)
lamb curry (rice, green beans, cabbage, flageolet beans)
mackerel (not decided what to do with it yet)

foxinsocks · 22/06/2006 19:49

obv the fish pie/chilli have the veg in them not with them

foxinsocks · 22/06/2006 19:49

and the curry has them in rather than with

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 22/06/2006 19:57

quiche and salad
chilli
pasta
roast chicken
beef strips with noodles and yellow bean sauce

I got so fed up of popping into the supermarket every other day to pick up ingredients for a suddenly-decided-on dinner that I thought I would menu plan for the first time to cover the next 2 weeks and do 1 big shop.
Hopefully this will save me time and money.

WellKnownMemorablePeachyClair · 22/06/2006 22:12

It should, as long a you don't get over ambitious and plan to cook and then come home shattered (a tyopical me thing to do) or your kids dopn't raid the cupboards whilst you are asleep on a Sunday morning. very common here >
