If a recipe calls for sour cream, can I use plain yogurt instead?

Yogurt is always in our fridge, sour cream, not so much. Can I substitute?

I do that all the time Wink

yes, it won't be exactly the same obv, but it's a pretty good substitute

It won't be the same.

It depends on the recipe how much of a difference it will make.

But it is a pretty good substitute and will probably still be nice.

Maybe nicer :)

Yep, sour it off a bit with lemon juice if you've got sweetened yoghurt. Just throw in if you've got plain greek yoghurt!

Yes, we use it in fajitas - much nicer.

Depends if you're going to heat it I think - yoghurt tends to curdle if you cook it (in curry, stroganoff etc), so would need to be added at the end, whereas cream is ok heated. If its a cold thing then yeah, I do all the time.
