anyone have any good/easy recipes for dips/pates made out of beans/pulses?

Tin of butter beans or cannelini beans (a white beans, anyway)
Tip out water.
Add a dessert spoon of soy sauce, a dessert spoon of sesame oil, a dessert spoon of smoked paprika.
Try to blend it.
Add small amounts of water until it will blend.
Add more salt to taste.

Is smoked paprika very different to straight paprika? i don't have the smoked variety

Normal paprika will be fine, but smoked is lovely if you can get hold of some.

Smoked paprika is kind of fajita-ish.

Houmous? Also love bean mash as a nice alternative to potato mash - Nigella has a good recipe.

This red lentil pâté is yummy. There are loads of others on this site but I've mot tried them.
