Please share tried and true recipes for meat that you give your toddlers

We seem to have a vegetarian in the making (which I wouldnt mind myself but he cant have any dairy and keeping his iron levels stable has turned into a real nightmare)

Tried

Mince: Bolognaise/ HM Pies/ Meatballs/ Meatloaf/ Taco and Nacho mix/ Shepherds Pie/ Curry

Beef/Lamb/Pork: Stew/ Slices/ Roasted/ Schnitzel/Sweet and Sour

Fish: Pie/ Tuna? Salmon/ Patties/ Baked/ GF crumbs/

Chicken: Roast/ Nibbles/ Casserole

ARG!!! HELP

And yes we just keep giving it to him but this has gone on for months and he really struggles on the iron supplements as it effects his bowels.

Game: Venison/ Wild Boar

I wouldn't push it myself .. DS used to dislike meat as a toddler .. but when he was around 3.5 he suddenly loved it .. don't know why .. but now he will eat any kind of meat or fish and ask for more

the one thing he would eat as a toddler was spicer meat things like satay chicken and black bean sauce at the chinese

how is he with beans and cheese? ..

have you tried floradix instead of iron supplements? don't know what age you can start it

He cant have cheese and is hit and miss with beans. You have given me hope about him coming through it though. Iron is medically prescribed for him, flurodix (sp) doesnt have the right dosage for him according to paeds.

DD loves sausage hot pot, home made chicken nuggets, chicken in mushroom sauce, beef and ale pie and home made meat pizza.

Oh and she will eat steak but only off my plate Smile

it coudl be that meat is too much liek hard work ..ie takes time to chew!...my ds doesnt really liek the texture of meat (or thats what i think)...

i make a vegetable heavy beef bolognese, cook it for yonks and then whizz abit (with a hand held blender)for him...he has thsi at leats once a week...and i figure with the other bits of fish etc thsi does him well.

keep em coming, have thought about the effort aspect...usually do food in slow cooker so plenty tender and does not require much chewing. Marne thanks have tried all but chicken in mushroom sauce - he believes that mushrooms are the altimate in punishments so I dont know if that will go down too well. Great link colditz he does really like sushi and nori has truck loads of iron in it so will deffo do much more of that for him.

dd2 has never liked meat or fish very much and was quite ill 18 months ago so needed a decent diet. Have just found that making shepherds pie, bolognaise etc with Quorn mince or TVP results in a clean plate. Not sure how it fares on the iron though.
