Duck/pasta salad - yukky or yummy?

I've got it into my head that I could make some kind of different pasta salad for Father's Day tea. I fancy the idea of using one of those crispy duck packs from Asda i.e. cooking it, shredding it and adding to cooked, cold pasta with 'other' stuff...but what? Does this sound like a good idea? Help needed please. I have already purchased the duck-pack-thing; although it's not imperative I use it, I would like to.

Try crispy duck noodle salad with orange and soy vinaigrette and lots of sugar snaps, spring onion and sesame seeds.

I second for noodles. It keeps with the oriental theme. 'Fusion' food always tastes slightly odd.

wishfulthinking · 14/06/2006 15:46

I'm going to Google fusion food now!

Ok, cook the duck as per instructions and shred.
Cook the noodles as per instructions and when they are done run them under cold water.
Toss the noodles in sesame oil(or a little veg oil if you don't have any).
Make a dressing with orange juice, soy sauce, a little rice vinegar(white wine if none), some sweet chili sauce and some sesame oil(actually buy some, it does make all the difference).
Steam some veg, ie, sugar snap peas, carrots, red peppers.
Mix the veg with the noodles, the dressing and some beansprouts,
Sprinkle over the duck, some spring onions, some chopped coriander and some sesame seeds,
Voila!

'fusion' is when you mix flavours from different types of cooking. Say, 'roast beef curry and yorkshire pudding'. Or 'Hoisin duck pizza'.

To me it always hints at 'clever' cooking rather than tasty cooking.

Yes, I see Kif. With that in mind I might opt for tasty food then. Clever really aint my style Wink
