Hi - I made prune and banana fool for my baby and toddler but still have more than half a tin left. Any suggestions for family friendly ways to use them up? Thanks.

You could make a lovely adult ice cream/Parfait. I fine dice them /food process then marinate in Armagnac or other mellow Brandy overnight. Then mix into good quality vanilla ice cream. Leave out the alcohol for kids and marinade in a runny honey/tin juices and tiny pinch of Allspice. Or use OJ and honey.

Wrap each prune in a strip of bacon and fry. Rinse off the juice from the can first. They make great sweet/salty savouries. They also go well tipped into the pan when you fry up pork, duck. Add towards the end of cooking after rinsing off the syrup they come in and add some sliced apple too. Then remove meat when done, add a little wine or stock and bubble down until the sauce is reduced.

There are loads of Middle Eastern style stews with prunes online too.

whizz them up in a blender; you can use them to replace part of the fat/oil in muffins

Big Cook and Little Cook put them in their 8 o'clock cake.

We've been baking 8 o'clock cakes for birthdays, Christenings, Wedding Anniversaries, etc for 9 years now Grin
