Guests coming. If we BBQ for lunch what shall I feed them for dinner?

Trying to avoid too much work. I shall make some interesting salads and we've got a variety of BBQ things to eat. That will take me a couple of hours to prep as I'll make a pud too.
Ordinarily dh and I wouldn't bother with dinner after a big BBQ, we would just feed the kids in the evening and maybe eat some leftovers much later.
So any ideas for a post BBQ dinner? Wondering about making a lasagne the day before and giving that to adults and kids?

Leftovers. Sandwiches from leftovers.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 03/08/2013 14:24

Would you not be disappointed with that as a guest? She is a fabulous cook. Maybe I could do a puff pastry tart type thing that we could have with the leftover salads?

Cheese plate with celery, pickles etc and fruit plate (could always some melt some chocolate )andvmaybe some hot nibbles, crisps etc if you think necessary.
I would not each much after a lunch bbq just maybe a bit of cheese.

LadyMilfordHaven · 03/08/2013 14:26

I think youll need a meal tbh - not leftovers

LadyMilfordHaven · 03/08/2013 14:27

i wouldnt do adults and kids meal. not at all relaxing

justaweeone · 03/08/2013 14:27

Sorry about typos!

justaweeone · 03/08/2013 14:28

I do not think you need a meal as a bbq tends to be quite filling with all that meat.

shoppingbagsundereyes · 03/08/2013 14:38

We have to do adults and kids meal because they're not staying the night, will head for home 8ish so will need to feed everyone at 6ish. Cheese board with nice bits sounds good. Could get olives and stuffed little peppers and things. Could do sandwiches for the kids.

MrsBungle · 03/08/2013 14:49

LadyMilfordHaven · 03/08/2013 15:03

Waffling · 03/08/2013 17:50

Nooo. People stuff themselves at barbeques. Sandwiches. Nice cake etc. The barbeque is the main event.

Parmarella · 03/08/2013 17:54

Something light and elegant, maybe a gazpacho or fennel salad with goat's cheese and a selection of little rolls.

LadyMilfordHaven · 03/08/2013 17:57

lol. i hate fennel

moondog · 03/08/2013 18:23

Fennel is lovely treated right.
Thinly sliced, dressed with olive oil and served with orange and olives.
Delightful.

BIWI · 03/08/2013 18:26

Hah! So fennel is not on your list of things people have to like then, LMH? Wink

shoppingbagsundereyes · 04/08/2013 13:46

I like olives, marzipan, and anchovies. You are thinking of coriander. Eurgh. I'm going to do cheese board, prosciutto, olives, anchovies etc and naice bread. Is only one family, not a big do
