I'm thinking something I can stick in Tupperware and won't need cooking. Any ideas?

I would go for pasta and sauce - maybe bolognese. Easy to stir around to heat through on one hob. Would be palatable cold if really desperate.

Pasta could work. Cold pizza slices maybe?

How old are your DC?

Pootles2010 · 31/07/2013 13:15

Oh you don't want to cook it at all? Um... just picnic food i guess. Make a big picnic pie, then serve it with lots of crisps?

If you can cook, we always do bolognese. Or go to the chippy!

IHeartKingThistle · 31/07/2013 13:16

6 and 3. Picnic pie sounds awesome!

Pesto pasta - eat cold

Add fruit after.

Bolognese or mild chilli (depending on dcs) with rice (cook, put in cold water, then straight into freezer in a pastic bag inside your cooking pot, reheat by pouring boiling water in and bring to boil) or nachos and sour cream/cheese/salsa bits.

One here, and it says you can freeze in advance too. Leftovers would be useful through the week if you don't eat it all first night.

Bowlersarm · 31/07/2013 13:37

Pitta bread, cut carrots etc with hommous/dips.

Cold pizza, as you say.

Pasta with pesto is lovely cold.

Cold meats like sausages, chicken breasts cut in to strips with some salads such as chickpea or tomato salad or potato salad

we always take dried pasta, a jar of sauce and some pre-grated cheese for our first camping dinner
