Love Nigel Slater. Love him. Everything about him. His obvious culinary genius. His incredible knowledge of all things yum (albeit expensive) and ummmm oh God yes, even his hair!!! Am totally ridiculous I realise, however I LOVE HIM. (Errrr hoping you got that!) PS. Anyone know where to get his pestle and mortar?!

He hates eggs you know. Never eats them-quite remarkable really.

No eggs??? Really???? Interesting. Does he substitute or just cook stuff when eggs are not 'main' ingredient? I realise I sound like a total flipping maniac by the way! Just love his cooking style.

I love him too. Read his books in bed. Can't stand him on the telly though. Saw him once on Regent Street, I wanted to tell him how great I thought all his garlic cream, wine and lardon seasoned food is but my sister wouldn't let me 'bother him'. Might write a fan letter.

I love Nigel but he had been surpassed in my culinary affections for now by Simon Hopkinson. I am distraught now his series has ended. It was a weekly oasis of culinary calm.

I have kitchen diaries 2 sitting on the shelf but with a newish baby and very basic kitchen at present in not doing much in the way of cooking at present. I need to start reading it and plan what to cook once I have my new kitchen.

here £££'s though I've got one very similar but can't for the life of me remember where I got it from, was about £40. Will have a dig online and see if I can find for you. Think Nigel as the 23cm one of the John Julian Design.

Tweet he uses them in recipes that he eats as an integral ingredient where they are 'undetectable but you'll never make him eat an egg on its own.

I have all his books and read them as novels. His Pork Rib Ragout w/ Pappardelle in 'Kitchen Diaries II' is the best damn thing I've made for friends all year- it is food of the Gods here

I have 3 pestle/mortars- a little one for small amounts that would otherwise get lost made from marble; a large granite one used for Indian/Asian and a wood one I use for garlic and European foods. Bit anal I know but they can absorb smells and not everything needs to smell of garlic.

I love him too. He's annoying but I forgive him his en-suite herb garden and perfect brown paper wrapped 'leftovers' (my leftovers in the fridge probably wouldn't grace his bin) but I can't help but like they guy.

I think his real kitchen was designed by John Pawson. It is visually spartan. Makes the TV one look cluttered!

I'll admit that I did write him a fan letter once- more than 10 years ago- but he didn't reply. It's my only ever fan letter, honest!

His passion for what he does is obvious, and that makes him very likeable. I know some people criticise him for the very high calorie content of his dishes (there's ALWAYS cream, butter, etc), but we have some firm family favoruites derived from NS suppers. Did you ever see that mockumentary on his early life - Toast, was it?

'Toast' the book is very upsetting in parts due to the awful way ihs father/Stepm behaved. However I laughed until I cried at one of his memories. He lived with his Aunt Fanny as a child and one day he put some space dust on her tongue. Aunt Fanny had Dementia ( I know, I know I shouldn't laugh) but his recounting of her reaction....

I love Nige. My mates DH works with him sometimes and got me a personally signed copy of Kitchen Diaries. I stroke it regularly.

His recipes are a joy to read and never fail. The man is a God. He is also apparently incredibly lovely IRL.
