Have two friends that are real 'lads' coming over on Monday night and just wondered if anyone can suggest something I can cook them?
I was thinking something along the lines of Sausages and mash e.t.c

Lads will want homemade curry with cans of lager. Anything more than this and you stand to be ridiculed because of your prowess in the kitchen. In fact, if you can leave a Morrisons carrier bag lying around so that it looks as if you picked it up from there, so much the better!

suzywong · 09/06/2006 10:43

but rhubarb, these friends of MJ's may be straining under a stereotypical Laddish image, playing up to it to gain favour and forturne and all the while yearning for a makeover with the Clinique Men's range, some Egyptian cotton sheets and a dinner of 5 exquisite and minute courses each one punctuated with a sorbet of vine fruits and melon?

Acutally I think sausage and mash is the best option, just don't forget the gravy

Rhubarb · 09/06/2006 10:45

Yeah. Right.

Curry then?

mosschops30 · 09/06/2006 10:46

what about chicken fajitas, easy to make, and you can always posh it up a bit by putting guacamole, sour cream and cheese on the table for them

Rhubarb · 09/06/2006 10:47

Yes but then you get the usual snidey remarks about "fanjitas" that I still giggle at! Blush

fish and chips and peas

KommandantColditz · 09/06/2006 11:36

Steak and chips - home made chips and steak fried to taste, with an egg on top and mountains of peas.

Slurp.

Thanks everyone for the advice - Think either steak and chips or sausage and mash! Thanks for noticing that I hadn't been around for a bit harpsichordcarrier - Nice to know I was noticed! - Things have been really crazy in my life recently. I have left DD's dad and things are starting to settle down a bit now, thank goodness. Now I am just stressing about not having enough money the whole time plus being an old mum when I go to Uni in Sept Blush How are you? Whats been happening in the world of mumsnet?
