What to do with leftover red wine?

I've got about half a bottle of Rioja left, what can I do with it apart from the obvious? I have a cupboard full of spices and stuff, a pack of diced lamb or chicken in the freezer but no idea what to do!
At ideas?

Freeze in ice-cube trays? really? how does an ice-cube of [incredulous] left-over [sympathy - were you ill?] wine make a difference to anything?!

A good coq au vin takes a bottle on its own...

Personally I recommend a little lie-down to consider what you've just posted - with a WHOLE bottle of the red stuff.

msrisotto · 25/06/2013 17:07

Oh yeah, have a whole bottle of wine to yourself, how cool and healthy...

Twitterqueen · 25/06/2013 17:14

Chill msrisotto.....
It's what we call a light-hearted thread.

msrisotto · 25/06/2013 17:33

Yeah I know but it's a little overwhelming on this thread and there is a bit of a culture on mn about wine generally.

OneStepCloser · 25/06/2013 17:37

Is there any point to ice cubes? How many ice cubes to a glug? Maybe freeze in a tub.

OneStepCloser · 25/06/2013 17:38

Actually, now I'm thinking, can u make wine ice lollies?

BrokenBanana · 25/06/2013 17:49

Grin ABF

We do like red wine gravy with our Sunday dinner so will put some aside for that, I had no idea you could freeze it. Does it still taste the same when defrosted?

Thanks shallweshop, think I might try that tomorrow.

There's also a culture of having a laugh and a joke, msrisotto.

I always thought alcohol didn't freeze, so if you put wine in the freezer the alcohol floats on the top?

ImaHexGirl · 25/06/2013 18:48

Have a look at the Smitten Kitchen blog - there is a lovely looking recipe for a red wine chocolate cake - what better combo can you get Grin

OP is obviously a troll, this cannot be real. If I could be rrrsed I'd report. GrinWink

Give it to Dh, dp, your dad, your fil, the postman, your neighbour....

Notmadeofrib · 25/06/2013 19:27

Freeze it in cubes and you can add them to your squash during the summer holidays. It'll make it real pretty

that or mix with chicken, olives, anchovies, tinned tomatoes and chuck in the oven for an hour and a half.

cubes are the way to go though Grin
