Egg white all bloody

Just cracked an egg and the white was all bloody - the white was still translucent but completely mixed with blood. Not just spots. The yolk was soft and yellow. Just googled it and as far as I can tell it happens if the hen bursts a capillary while the egg is forming prior to the shell being created. It was a free range egg from sainsbury's. Shouldn't their screening process have picked this up?

Very yucky :-(

That is rather disgusting...eurgh!

OK, it's a bit yuck but eggs come from animals and animals have blood and I don't see how the shop could have picked this up, they don't x-ray the eggs (do they?). It's just one of those things.

I thought they put them through some kind of light sensor that picked up discoloured ones to get rid of rotten ones. It was dark red, not just specks. Bleugh...

I had one just like that but it was from Aldi. Really shocked me as it looked so bloody - yuk!

Its odd isn't it. Blood spots in eggs give me the boak too. But when you think about what eggs actually are its a bit illogical to single out the blood spots as being boak worthy.

And yes, I thought eggs were screened for blood spots etc

Emailed sainsbury's will see what they come back with.

Never seen that I think it would put me off but I got one the other day with 2 yolks.
