Gammon and diet coke in the slowcooker?

I have a gammon joint, roughly 1kg, that I want to slowcook tomorrow. Usually I do it with brown sugar but I'm on SW so I was thinking of doing it with diet coke instead.

I can find lots of recipes for cooking it on the hob over 2-3 hours but nothing for the slowcooker.

So, does anyone have a recipe?

Does it have to be proper diet coke or will generic do?

Do I need to add anything else such as veg? Can I do anything with the liquid left over?

will diet coke work? Surely you need the sugar (in full sugar coke) or the brown sugar you normally use to get the caramelised flavour

I think it needs to be fat coke, sorry
