Anyone have reliable recipe for delicious, grown-up friendly biscuits?

Not shortbread as for some reason it always falls to pieces when I make it, and I don't like it much. All other suggestions gratefully received, though easy and quick is always a bonus!

Any type? This ginger date and sesame biscuit are acknowledged in our house as the best biscuits in the world.
