It's official, I have become a domestic goddess!!

I never thought I'd see the day, but I have become officially a domestic goddess! I cooked a roast chicken dinner on Sunday, and am now boiling the bones to make stock for homemade chicken soup! If you had told me a year ago before I got PG that this is where I would be now, I would have laughed in your face!!

:o yey! I know exactly how you feel! Have completed the "make your own pies, casseroles, and pasta sauces" stage, but yet to complete a roast dinner! That's my task for this weekend!! I really had no interest in cooking before ds & dd and now I can't think of putting anything other than home cooked food into them (well 80% of dinners- as much as you can with two under three!)

It's so satisfying isn't it! :)

We're swapping threads! I'm 36, and did my first roast chicken about 6 weeks ago!! I've done other roasts before though, so not a total roasting virgin! It's so easy, and I love roast potatoes. Also very easy - boil the potatoes for five minutes, then drain water into a jug or bowl and keep it for the gravy. Add the potatoes to the roasting tin, and cover in the oil from the meat - add a bit more oil if need be. then cook for around 40 minutes - turn them accasionally so they get crispy all over. Yum, yum!

Very impressed about the pies - i haven't tried baking yet, although I have some bananas to use up, and some recipes for banana loaf from an MN thread a couple of weeks ago. Who knows today may be the day...

:o ooooo - I LOVE baking! Cakes, loafs, muffins.... they are really where my heart is. Got a really great brownie recipe off suzywong a number of months ago... they are the family favourite!

Have tried roasties before but not in the roasting pan with the meat... sounds yummy.. going to do it tomorrow night now when dh can get home early to help out with the kids! Can't wait!

No doubt we'll probably chat some more under 'food' !

PS. Pies are easy with premade puff pastry! Especially if you cheat even further and get the ready rolled stuff ! Have tried making my own, but find the ready stuff much easier and less time consuming. Will leave pastry perfecting until they're at school!!

Ok, the banana nut loaf is on the oven (thanks to jambuttie for the recipe - I also added a few chopped walnuts). fingers crossed my first ever baking experiment works!

Sorry, have been all over the place in the last few days - except mumsnet!

The cake was great. :) I was so inspired I then made scones on Sunday - ham and sundried tomato ones no less. My mum says she is sure I have been abducted and my body replaced by aliens - she can't believe I'm doing all this!

On top of all the baking, I have been and bought a load of tubs and pots for the garden, along with a load of plants, and will be spending the rest of the summer trying to persuade them not to die!

How exactly did I turn into my mother?!
