What do you eat when you're tired of eating?

I'm looking for some inspiration. I'm not really enjoying dinner at the moment, and I think I want lighter, fresher tasting dishes, but I'm out of ideas. Perhaps dinners which are vegetable or seafood based would be particuarly suitable, though I do eat meat.

I'd appreciate any suggestions,or recipes for lighter dishes.

TIA

Pasta with broccoli, anchovies, garlic and chilli. I'm a bit the same just now, and this is my solution for this evening.

i take myself off to M&S and buy a couple of days worth of lovely ready meals for us!

Cod wrapped in Parma ham?

cocoplops · 17/04/2013 17:03

I'd go for chicken noodle soup. Stock with onions n lumps of ginger (I hoik them out at the end), shove in raw chicken bits to poach in stock. And some mushrooms. Simmer for a bit then add good amount of thin egg noodles (enough to make it meal worthy) and then after they soften, switch off and add quite a bit of some sort of crunchy lettuce and or spinach and or pak choi. Bit of sesame oil at the end n good bit of pepper. Tis lovely and restorative to the soul!!!

Or this is lovely and zingy. Not light as in low cal but very fresh tasting.

Asparagus risotto - just coming into season
fish stew - make a basic tomato sauce then cod/salmon/prawn chucked in for literally a few minutes before eating with crusty bread

Pasta puttanesca.

SchroSawMargeryDaw · 17/04/2013 17:14

When I am bored of eating I always end up with either tuna sandwiches with tomato and basil soup or warm smoked salmon and roulé wholemeal bagels.

jennymac · 17/04/2013 17:16

I second pasta puttanesca - I could eat this every night actually but dh wouldn't put up with it!

How about some pan fried sea bass with a nice zingy avocado and grapefruit salad and maybe some herbed new potatoes.

Or steam some sea bass Asian style with garlic, ginger, spring onions and chilli and serve with coconut rice and some choi

Chicken, cheese and broccoli pasta - some shell or tube pasta (holds more sauce!), fried bits of chicken then a tub of single cream, lots of mature cheddar and Parmesan to make a sauce and some bits of broccoli cooked in with the pasta for the last few minutes. Yummy!

If I am tired of eating, I don't bother!

Nasi goreng - Indonesian stir fried rice Its a great way of using up left overs as well.

There is a base recipe here www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/12257/nasi-goreng
but you can chuck anything you like in. I made it tonight woith spring greens, carrot and left over chicken. Real comfort food.

eslteacher · 17/04/2013 20:47

Bag of mixed salad leaves tossed with cucumber, sweet corn, red onion, tuna mayo, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Serve with a baked potato if you're really hungry.

Quiche with rice and peas.

Also think that Chinese stir fry type things always slip down easily.

mylifeisstillchaotic the link is for stuffed onions? I looked up and there is a recipe of his for stuffed mushrooms with taleggio - is that the one you mean? Only wanting to clarify as I really want to try some of his recipes (not got his recipe book) and looking for something confirmed as yummy to start with!!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 18/04/2013 16:39

Haha! I have no idea why I wrote mushrooms when I did in fact mean onions - the link is the correct one Blush

cocoplops · 18/04/2013 21:56

Thanks! Might give it a whirl! Maybe even the mushrooms too!!! Smile
