Make of spicy tomato 'n' rosewater paste on Jamie Oliver TV-prog?

Hello, All,

OH likes cooking and caught just part of 'Jamie's 15-Minute Meals' on C4 earlier this week around noon. Mr O' was cooking Mexican dishes, and swore by a small, dark-coloured tube of red paste or puree that OH thinks comprised of tomato, rosewater and chili, amongst other ingredients: cumin, possibly. Apparently one needs to use only a little of the stuff: it has quite a kick.

Can anyone identify it, please? I'd like to get some for OH.

Thank you.

PS We can't get '4OD': we've tried; and a web-search has failed.

Was it Harissa paste? It's not a brand, it's the Morrocan name for that particular blend of spices.

I also use a blend if spices called Ras El Hanout which contains rose petals?

Apologies Harrisa is Tunisian, but used in many Moroccan recipes.

Thank you, WBJB,

I think you're right. Thanks, too, for the tip about the variety with rose-petals: sounds heavenly. OH will be pleased (and I am most grateful).

IT.
