Carrot cake but with an alternative to cream cheese icing - any ideas?

I'm making a carrot cake for my mum's birthday but she's not a fan of creamy icing so my usual cream cheese is out, as is butter cream icing. Has anyone ever made one and iced it with royal or fondant icing? Does it taste as good?

If you search the bbc good food website, their yummy carrot cake has a simple drizzle on top, think it's just icing sugar and some squeezed orange juice if I recall correctly but can confirm it is scrummy!

The Bero orange frosted carrot cake has the best carrot cake icing I have ever tried, and is a yummy cake as well. It is my default carrot cake recipe, having tried loads.

I don't rate the BBC Good Food carrot cake BTW.

Thanks all - I love the sound of the simple drizzles. Job done!
