cook ahead mother's day meal for 10 and a veggie?

we've got a busy weekend and family coming on Sunday for tea. The baby (and older ones) makes it tricky to do involved cooking, so I'm looking for something I can mainly cook ahead. We would usually do roast, but that's a lot of last minute stuff and timing etc, I want to relax!

We are 6 meat eating adults, 4 kids and a veggie.
all I can think of is lasagne (meat and a veggie) but that's not very special is it?

please offer inspiration!

Casserole/Stew.

chicken Curry, veg Curry and Dahl?

Slow Cooked Shoulder of lamb with mash, and you can just do mash/veggies on the day?

I'm doing Mothers Day in Advance, and am doing home made fish cakes with a herby youghurt/ Mayo sauce. I'm doing a salad with them, but you could always do chips and peas!

For the veggie, you could add some cheese and onion to the potato cake.

oh yeah, veggie MIL eats fish (I should've said that) I'm always nervous about cooking fish and it being tough though.

wombling, my mouth watered a bit at that! what could the veggie have do you think?

I would do a veggie tagine/stew to have with the mash I think. You can prep the lamb & the veg stew the night before and even roasties instead of mash, and just sling the lamb in the oven as soon as you get up ( needs 4-5 hours of cooking), plus warm the stew through when you do the veg. If you're doing Roasties they can go in when the lamb comes out.

I have a fab recipient for a choc cake too.
