What's the best way to store breadcrumbs?

Ok, not the most fascinating of topics but is there a way to keep breadcrumbs? I'm about to make some but can I do extra so I don't need to get the food processor out every time?

Common sense tells me there must be a way to dry them out so they can just go in a sealed jar or something or will they go mouldy? Is it better to freeze them or will they go to mush?

Just wondered what everyone else does? Thank you Grin

Nigella keeps a stash of breadcrumbs in the freezer

I freeze them in little freezer bags. They seem quite stable. I don't defrost them, just use them as they are.

I freeze them - no need to defrost

Freeze & agree about no need to defrost.

Blitz half a loaf of bread, add to bag in freezer. Just grab a handful as needed. They freeze loose and dont mush

Yup freeze them

I freeze 'raw' homemade crumble mix too, and 'raw' scones. Crumble mix can be used straight from freezer, scones seem to need about 25 mins at 180C straight from the freezer :-)

Thank you - freezing it is then. Afterall that I needed all I did but will definitely make some as I find it a real faff to make them everytime I need them.Grin
