I'd go for the 5:2 as well. I did it before Christmas along with 2 exercise classes per week. Didn't have much weight to shift but it all came off pretty quickly. There is some info on it here and a support thread here.
I'm thinking of going back on it and wish I hadn't stopped, I just felt so much healthier when I was doing it. It might help if you join Myfitness pal too, its a good way to track your calories on your fasting days.
