I need to make a dalek birthday cake but i cant bake!

Ds1 will be 7 in a couple of weeks, due to having possible SN he only really has one interest and thats Dr Who, last year we bought a tardis cake but there is no doctor who themed cakes in the shops this year. Ds REALLY wants a dalek cake he dosnt 'get' that one may not be available. Ive asked around to have one made but was quoted £65 ive googled and seen some online but they look either way above my ability or terrible.

Has anyone made one and could give tips?

How about getting a personalised Dalek cake toper like this: www.ediblecaketoppers.co.uk/dalek-pre-cut-75-round-cake-topper-p-224.html You could by a large plain-ish birthday cake from a supermarket, cover it in chocolate buttercream icing and stick the topper on the top and then cover the sides with maltesers to give a dalek body type effect
