Ham in coke - does 3.7 hrs sound right for a 1.7kg ham?

I'm boiling it in a saucepan and only done smaller hams before. I've got scribbled down to allow for 1hr per lb.

1.7kg is 3.7 lbs. But it sounds a long time to boil a ham for?

No, it's about half that. I did 2.2kg in 2.5 hours the other day and it was perfect. That was in a pot on the stove, though. If you are using a slow cooker, I don't know.

I didn't read your first post properly - pot on stove for that size would be about 2 hours plus 15-25 mins in the oven if you're adding a mustard/sugar glaze and want it to set.

Have they digitised time????

The general rule for boiling ham is 20 min per pound, and 20 min over, so for a 3.7lb ham, about 1hr 35min should do it

Thanks for the replies. Did it for 1hr 35min and then 20 mins in the oven. Tastes yummy.
